Since joining the Royal Hospital Chelsea in 2021, Tony has discovered a new passion – art. He shared more on how this creative outlet has benefitted his wellbeing. 

Joining the British Army at 15 years old, Chelsea Pensioner, Roger, has had a varied military career. Initially, he joined the Junior Leaders Regimental Royal Armoured Corps and later served with The Life Guards, Royal Logistic Corps as well as the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Roger shares more on his time in the Army.

This month marked the 79th anniversary of the Liberation of Guernsey. A group of 10 Chelsea Pensioners and serving soldiers from the Royal Gurkha Rifles visited the channel island to mark the occassion. 

A stunning new rose celebrating the Chelsea Pensioners was launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024. Exclusively grown by Harkness Roses for the Royal Hospital, the radiant, resilient Chelsea Pensioner Rose is an asset to any garden. And every rose sold helps support the iconic Army veterans it’s named for.

This International Women’s Day, we are celebrating the incredible women who have served and continue to serve in the British Army. To recognise their contribution, we hear from some of our female Chelsea Pensioners about their time in the Army. 

Chelsea Pensioner, Peter, was a seaman in the Martime Regiment when he served in the Falkland Islands in 1982. Now, 42 years later, Peter voyaged back to the Island and reflects on his return visit and time spent there in the Army. 

At the end of last year, Chelsea Pensioners John and Angus embarked on a trip to Hawaii and the United States of America as a visit of Remembrance. We caught up with them to find out how their trip went. 

John Humphreys OBE DL celebrated his 102nd birthday this month. He visited the Royal Engineers Musuem where he was given a tour of the Barracks and Museum, and was renunited with the commando knife he used to escape his second capture during the Second World War.
