The Royal Hospital announces new Chief Executive Officer

22nd February 2016

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is delighted to announce Gary Lashko as its new Chief Executive Officer. Mr Lashko was Community Services Director at CHS Group, a charitable housing association, in Cambridge since August 2011, and joined the Royal Hospital at the beginning of February 2016.

The Governor of the Royal Hospital General Sir Redmond Watt said of the new appointment: “After a comprehensive search process, I am very pleased to welcome Gary to the Royal Hospital Chelsea. His background is in care and he has a strong track record in leadership. He is very well qualified to ensure that we continue to take excellent care of our Chelsea Pensioners.”

Mr Lashko said: “I am honoured to have been selected as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Hospital. As one of Britain’s most treasured institutions and an example model of care for the elderly; I am committed to preserving and contributing to the historic home of the Chelsea Pensioners. I am looking forward to working with all at the Royal Hospital and hope to continue and drive forward its strategies for the future.”

However, before Mr Lashko could get down to the tasks set out above, he had a few more questions to answer… from the Chelsea Pensioners themselves! Chelsea Pensioner Ray Pearson, Editor of the Royal Hospital’s in-house title Tricorne magazine, spoke to Gary about this new beginning.
