John Humphreys OBE DL celebrated his 102nd birthday this month. He visited the Royal Engineers Musuem where he was given a tour of the Barracks and Museum, and was renunited with the commando knife he used to escape his second capture during the Second World War.

Five Chelsea Pensioners were presented with the new Nuclear Test Medals by the Governor of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. 

On 12 December, veterans from the wider community joined Chelsea Pensioners for a carol service in the Royal Hospital’s Wren Chapel.

On Wednesday 6 December, the Royal Hospital Chelsea celebrated its annual Ceremony of the Christmas Cheeses – a unique tradition that stretches back more than three centuries. 

Kickstarting the Christmas festivities this year, our Chelsea Pensioners took part in the annual Stirring of the Christmas Pudding today. 

This year marks the 70th anniverasry since the fighting of the Korean War ended. Here at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, we want to remember the countless individuals that were impacted by the Korean war; and to do so, a few of our Korean Veterans shared their experiences with us.
